Queen Greeley gets the distance

It's now safe to say that Queen Greeley can handle two turns. In her first start at the trip Sunday, she won the $50,000 Island Fashion at Sunland Park by 4 1 1/4 lengths. The one-mile race for 3-year-old fillies was the local prep for the $200,000 Sunland Park Oaks on March 28.

Presious Passion scores in Mac Diarmida

Trainer Mary Hartmann almost scratched Presious Passion because of the good turf at Gulfstream, but he earned a 1 1/4-length victory Sunday.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Presious Passion rebounded from one of the most disappointing performances of his career and is now off to Dubai after leading throughout to post a 1 1/4-length victory over Winchester in defense of his title in Sunday's at Gulfstream Park.

Presious Passion had not started since finishing fifth, eight lengths behind Cloudy's Knight, in Calder's Grade 2 W.L. McKnight Handicap in his 2009 finale on Dec. 26. That performance came on the heels of his finest hour, a second-place finish seven weeks earlier in the Breeders' Cup Turf.

Stewards place Storming Saint over barnmate

Raise the Bridle finished first by a neck in the at Sunland Park on Saturday, but was disqualified for impeding his stablemate, Storming Saint, whose number was put up by the stewards. Raise the Bridle was placed second, and now both he and his stablemate are headed to the Grade 3, $800,000 Sunland Park Derby, said their trainer, Henry Dominguez.

Storming Saint ($5.60) races for Lathrop Hoffman. Raise the Bridle is owned by Double Eagle Ranch and Buena Suerte Equine, the New Mexico-based partnership that last year won the Kentucky Derby with Mine That Bird.
