Lone Star: JEH Stallion Station looks like ideal spot for Joy's Paradise to win first stakes

In less than three full years of racing Joy’s Paradise has won 7 of 21 races, on everything from fast to sloppy tracks, on turf to dirt, and at distances ranging from five furlongs to a mile.

One of the few things she hasn’t done is win a stakes race, something she has a strong chance to do Saturday at Lone Star Park when she faces Last Wager, Lady Giacamo, and eight other Texas-bred fillies and mares in the $50,000 JEH Stallion Station Stakes.

Court maneuvering leaves Amen Hallelujah's status for Vinery Madison up in air

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Franklin Circuit Court in Kentucky issued a temporary restraining order on Thursday that will allow a horse trained by Richard Dutrow to start in the Vinery Madison Stakes at Keeneland today.

The horse, Amen Hallelujah – the 2-1 morning-line favorite – was expected to be scratched after the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s Licensing Review Committee denied Dutrow a racing license at a hearing on Wednesday. However, the Franklin Circuit Court’s order will allow the horse to run, according to chief state steward John Veitch.

Emerald Downs: First-timers with a future

AUBURN, Wash. – Potential is the word in the seventh race Saturday at Emerald Downs. A five-furlong dash for 3-year-old maidens, the race attracted nine entrants, several with intriguing back stories, and while potential is a polite way of saying you haven’t done anything yet, no one will be surprised if some of Saturday’s runners graduate to stakes competition in the very near future.

Remington: Mighty B Valiant appears formidable in Remington Futurity

Mighty B Valiant was a standout winner during two full cards of trials for Saturday night’s $780,000 Remington Park Futurity, and if he runs back to his 2 1/4-length romp he should be tough to contain in what is the richest statebred futurity offered to Quarter Horses.

The Remington Park Futurity is restricted to Oklahoma-breds for the first time this year. There were 24 trials for the 330-yard race between April 2-3. The five fastest qualifiers from each card earned a spot in the finale.
