Northlands: Salt Flat Speed's back class stands out in sprint feature

Salt Flat Speed is a standout in an optional $40,000 claiming race that will serve as Wednesday’s feature at Northlands Park.

A five-time stakes winner, Salt Flat Speed has a decided class advantage over his four rivals who have never won a stakes race. Salt Flat Speed is the only horse entered for the $40,000 tag.

The 6 1/2-furlong sprint for 3-year-olds and up goes as race 4 on a nine-race card that starts at 6 p.m. Mountain.

Emerald Downs: He’s All Heart humbles rivals in Muckleshoot Tribal Classic

AUBURN, Wash. - He’s All Heart powered to a 10 1/4-length victory Sunday the $40,000 Muckleshoot Tribal Classic, the marquee event on Washington Cup Day at Emerald Downs. A total of six stakes restricted to horses foaled in Washington or sired by stallions standing in the state were contested, and all six winners recorded their first career stakes victory.

Belmont: Unbridled Humor alters Motion's plan in taking Noble Damsel

It wasn’t the trip her connections were hoping for, but it was the result the mattered most as Unbridled Humor became a graded stakes winner, taking Sunday’s Grade 3, $100,000 Noble Damsel by 1 3/4 lengths at Belmont Park.

European invader Thai Haku rallied to be second, 1 1/4 lengths ahead of Aquitaine. Aviate finished fourth.

The win was the fifth from six career starts for Unbridled Humor, a daughter of Distorted Humor owned and bred by Live Oak Plantation and trained by Graham Motion.

Woodbine Mile: Turallure gets up by a neck over favored Courageous Cat

ETOBICOKE, Ontario—Turallure mounted a powerful rally from out of traffic under a daring ride from Julien Leparoux to capture Sunday’s $1 million Woodbine Mile.

Turallure ($14.90) was angled wide nearing the eighth pole after saving ground most of the way, and he caught favored Courageous Cat in the final strides to win by a neck. Turallure covered the distance over firm ground in 1:34.92.

Parx: Carmouche collects riding triple to reach 2,000 wins

Kendrick Carmouche is joined in the winners circle by fellow jockeys, family, and friends after scoring his 2,000th career victory aboard Classic Kaz in Sunday's ninth race at Parx.

Jockey Kendrick Carmouche swept the last three races on Sunday’s card at Parx Racing to reach 2,000 wins for his career.

Carmouche, 27, reached the milestone by guiding the maiden claimer Classic Kaz ($6.40) to a 3 1/4-length victory in the ninth race. His mounts in the previous two races, Santorini Moon ($5.80) and Zubani ($9) both prevailed by a neck.

Carmouche has won the last three riding titles at Parx and currently sits at the top of the standings again, looking to become the first jockey in the history of the track to win four titles in a row.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario—Wigmore Hall, the favored shipper from England, encountered traffic problems on the far turn during a ground-saving trip before closing to capture the Grade 1 Northern Dancer Turf at Woodbine on Sunday.

Bourbon Bay was pressed through a slow pace by Seaside Retreat in the 1 1/2-mile turf route, and they were joined on the lead by Simmard midway on the backstretch.

Woodbine: Never Retreat follows up Dance Smartly score by taking Canadian

ETOBICOKE, Ontario — Never Retreat, returning to the scene of her score in the Grade 2 Dance Smartly on Aug. 13,  pressed the pace of longshot Woolly Bear and took over around the final turn en route to a half-length victory here at Woodbine in Sunday’s Grade 2, $300,000 Canadian Stakes for fillies and mares.

Never Retreat prevailed as a the fourth choice in the about 1 1/8-mile turf race, which attracted a field of 14.

 ELMONT, N.Y. - It is a matter of public record that Winter Memories won Saturday’s Grade 1 Garden City Stakes by a neck at Belmont Park. But trainer Jimmy Toner had to watch the replay several times for further evidence.

“I’m still not sure how she won,’’ Toner said. “So every time I watched it, I said `Are you sure she won?’ ‘’
