Cambina, 3, closed from last in a field of nine to finish 2 1/2 lengths behind race winner Dubawi Heights, one of the top American contenders for the Filly and Mare Turf. Cambina raced on the rail and was still last with a furlong remaining in the race over 1 1/4 miles on turf.

The field breaks for the third race on opening day, a turf allowance won by the Tom Proctor-trained Mutually Benefit, ridden by Julien Leparoux.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – It was only a $7,500 claiming race, but Tevis Q. McCauley scarcely could have been happier. This was Keeneland, after all, where McCauley grew up going to the races as a kid and where he now trains a mid-sized public stable.

Belmont: Forest Crown has been waiting for right spot at home track

Barbara D. Livingston
The filly Forest Crown will make her first start since July in Sunday's Stormy West.

ELMONT, N.Y. – Compromised by a slow start and a wide trip, Forest Crown was beaten just a nose when she made her North American debut in a second-level allowance race at Belmont Park on July 14.

Though she has not run since, a repeat of that performance puts Forest Crown in the mix of a competitive 10-horse field set to run seven furlongs over Belmont’s Widener turf course in Sunday’s $60,000 Stormy West Stakes. The Stormy West shares billing with the $60,000 Duck Dance for older sprinters on dirt.
