US Ranger a Guineas supplement

Owner Michael Tabor on Monday supplemented his undefeated French-trained colt, US Ranger, to Saturday's 2000 Guineas for a fee of $50,000. The addition of US Ranger, a Kentucky-bred son of Danzig, to the Guineas field means that Saturday's classic mile at Newmarket could be one of the strongest in recent years.

Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, US Ranger aired in three 2-year-old starts at Bordeaux and Toulouse. After Tabor purchased a 50 percent interest this spring, he added luster to his promise with a four-length victory in the Prix Djebel at Maisons-Laffitte on April 11.

Never worse than fourth, Dylan Thomas, a 4-year-old son of Danehill, was trapped briefly entering the 2 1/2-furlong stretch but rallied to lead 150 yards from the line under a sitting-chilly ride from Christophe Soumillon.
