Ambitious Champion, a Group 3 winner in Hong Kong in April, will start for the first time in the 2016-17 Hong Kong Season in Wednesday’s $225,652 Wistaria Handicap at about a mile on turf at Happy Valley Racecourse.

Ambitious Champion, a 7-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding, is part of a competitive field of 12 for the final race on an eight-race program that begins at 7:15 a.m. Eastern.

Brave Anna and Roly Poly gave Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien a sweep of the exacta in Saturday’s $234,000 Cheveley Park Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Newmarket, England, at the expense of the previously unbeaten Lady Aurelia, who finished third.

For her third and final transatlantic trip of 2016, the Kentucky-based filly Lady Aurelia will start in Saturday’s $234,000 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket Racecourse, a race that offers a different test. The Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes is run at six furlongs for 2-year-old fillies over a course with a notable uphill finish.

In 2015, Consort finished third in the Group 1 St. James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, his only appearance in a race at the highest level that season.

Earlier this year, Consort was eighth and fourth in consecutive starts in Group 1 races on the Hong Kong circuit. The losses were part of a winless six-race campaign for the 4-year-old gelding in his first season in Asia in 2015-16.
