Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby won the Group 3, $300,000 Nad al Sheba Trophy Stakes on Thursday night at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai with Ispolini, but lost their talented colt Brundtland during the race’s running.
Saturday’s sixth race at Royal Randwick Racecourse on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia, is officially known as the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes. The focus will be entirely on Winx as the immensely popular 8-year-old mare attempts to win her 31st consecutive start.
Winx is trained by Chris Waller and will start as a heavy favorite in the Chipping Norton Stakes at a mile on turf. The race is largely an intramural affair. Waller trains six of the seven entrants. Happy Clapper, a 9-year-old gelding who has won 7 of 29 starts, is trained by Patrick Webster.
Brundtland, one of four Godolphin horses entered, heads a seven-horse field in the Group 3, $300,000 Nad Al Sheba Trophy Stakes, featured race on the Dubai World Cup Carnival card Thursday night at Meydan Racecourse.
The Nad Al Sheba Trophy is carded at about 1 ¾ miles on turf, making it a prep for the two-mile Dubai Gold Cup on the March 30 Dubai World Cup card, and Brundtland’s connections certainly would aspire to that race.

Gamechangers has displayed steady improvement in recent starts in Hong Kong, and with those results has drawn the attention of bettors.
Trained by John Size, a runaway leader in the standings, Gamechangers won for the first time in the current Hong Kong season in a handicap at Happy Valley Racecourse on Jan. 16. Gamechangers followed with a third-place finish, by a short head, in a similar race at Sha Tin Racecourse on Feb. 7.

Edgar Prado, the Hall of Fame jockey, was denied a jockey license in Saudi Arabia this week due to regulations in the country that prohibit the licensing of riders over the age of 50, the rider said on Twitter.
Prado, a 51-year-old native of Peru, said Thursday that he was heading back to the U.S. after being rejected for the license. The post included a copy of Saudi Arabian jockey club rules citing the prohibition on jockeys “over the age of 50 years or under the age of 16 years.”
A week after sweeping two Group stakes at Meydan Racecourse, Godolphin and trainer Charlie Appleby won three more on Thursday night at Meydan.
Mythical Magic proved much the best in the Group 2, $250,000 Zabeel Mile, Divine Image just got up in the Group 2, $250,000 UAE Oaks, and Spotify won the Group 3, $200,000 Dubai Millennium Stakes. William Buick rode Mythical Magic and Divine Image, while James Doyle was aboard Spotify.
