The 2-year-old colt Kameko was bred in the United States before going off to England to race, and perhaps he’ll come back again this fall.

Kameko as of Thursday was a solid antepost favorite for the Royal Lodge, a straight mile Saturday at Newmarket racecourse.

The Royal Lodge is a Group 2 that shares a card with two Group 1 races for 2-year-olds, the Middle Park and the Cheveley Park, but it’s a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Win and You’re In race linked to the BC Juvenile Turf and often produces starters in that race.

Green Luck and Helene Charisma were separated by 1 1/2 lengths when first and second in a handicap at Happy Valley Racecourse in Hong Kong on Sept. 11.

Green Luck was the 3-1 favorite in the race at about a mile and 50 yards and won for the second time in four starts. Helene Charisma was 35-1 and closed well on the rail to nearly end a four-race losing streak.

Harmony Victory concluded his 2018-19 Hong Kong campaign with a stirring win in a Class 1 handicap at Sha Tin and begins the 2019-20 season taking a step down to a Class 2 in the featured eighth race on a rare Saturday card at Sha Tin.

Betfair Australia has stopped allowing its customers the ability to offer wagers on races held by the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the company said on Friday.

The decision by Betfair Australia to take down markets on Hong Kong’s races came 16 days after the HKJC sent a “cease and desist” letter to the company. The HKJC said in the letter that it had never granted approval to the company to offer the bets and that it considered exchange wagering on its product “intrinsically at odds with the principles of the sport.”

The Hong Kong Jockey Club canceled its race card for Wednesday night due to concerns about the impact of protests planned near the vicinity of the racetrack that day.

In a statement, officials for the HKJC said that the card at Happy Valley Racecourse was canceled due to “potential social unrest in the vicinity tonight.” Hong Kong has been rocked by protests for several months due to concern among citizens about the influence of China’s government on the province, a special administrative region of China.
