Redzel is the only winner The Everest has known in the Australian sprint race’s two-year history and on Saturday at Royal Randwick, Redzel will try to win his third Everest when he faces 15 rivals.

The $9.56 million (US) Everest is Australia’s version of the Pegasus World Cup, with connections shelling out big bucks for a spot in this six-furlong race around a right-handed turn.

In truth, Magical is shipping this weekend from trainer Aidan O’Brien’s base in Ireland to Ascot Racecourse just west of London, but so rain-soaked is Ascot that three races on Saturday’s British Champions Day card scheduled for Ascot’s round course have been transferred to the inner course.

With a little racing luck, My Ally would have won in his first start for trainer John Moore in a six-furlong handicap at Happy Valley Racecourse in Hong Kong on Sept. 25. My Ally raced in traffic with a half-mile remaining and lost a shoe with about a quarter-mile remaining. Despite all that, My Ally was beaten a head.

Wednesday at Happy Valley, My Ally tries to win for the first time at the 2019-2020 Hong Kong season in the $184,847 Tai Tam Handicap at six furlongs on turf. My Ally will carry 132 pounds, one less than topweight Joyful Union in the field of 12.

Quadrilateral won her stakes debut in Friday’s Group 1 Fillies Mile at Newmarket, England to become the future-book favorite for the Group 1 English 1000 Guineas at the same track in May.

Ridden by Jason Watson, his first Group 1 race, Quadrilateral rallied through the final quarter-mile to win by a head as the 9-4 favorite, edging 7-1 Powerful Breeze. Love, the winner of the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes in Ireland on Sept. 15, finished third, beaten 1 1/2 lengths in the field of nine.
