From Florida to England to France, 3-year-old filly Campanelle is undefeated in sprint races, and she’s favored to win another Sunday at Deauville in the Group 1 Prix Maurice de Gheest.

The Australian Group 1 sprinter Kolding starts for the first time since April in Saturday’s Group 2 Missile Stakes at six furlongs at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Australia.

Despite his accomplishments earlier this year of winning the Group 1 All Aged Stakes at seven furlongs, Kolding will not be favored in the Missile Stakes. The 6-year-old mare Fasika, the winner of the Group 2 Sapphire Stakes at six furlongs in April, dominated early betting as of Thursday as the 8-5 favorite. Kolding was 4-1, a slight choice over the outstanding sprinter Viridine at 9-2.

Since Modernism won a maiden race in her third start last October, the 5-year-old mare has steadily worked her way up the handicap ranks at minor tracks in the state of Queensland in Australia.

Modernism has won four of five starts since the win in the maiden race, leading to her toughest test in a seven-furlong handicap for fillies and mares at Townsville Racecourse on Friday.

Mother Earth continued her strong 3-year-old campaign with a win over older rivals Tuesday at Deauville in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained filly, running in nothing but Group 1 stakes, began her season winning the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket, was second in the French 1000 Guineas at Longchamp, finished third in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot, and was second in the Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket before posting a head victory over Sagamiyra in the Rothschild.

The speedy gelding Mark the Horse and the closer Rudhyar will start in a handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Warrnambool Racecourse in Australia on Thursday on the strength of brief winning streaks.

Mark the Horse is unbeaten in three starts this year - handicaps since June 19 at distances ranging from a mile to 1 1/16 miles. Mark the Horse led throughout those races, and won a handicap at 1 1/16 miles at Warrnambool by five lengths on July 4. More recently, Mark the Horse won a one-mile handicap by a neck at Ballarat Racecourse on July 11.

Mother Earth takes her second trip across the English Channel this season to start as the likely favorite in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild on Tuesday at Deauville.

Mother Earth is one of eight 3-year-old fillies entered to face six older horses in this straight-course mile, and her opposition includes the horse, Coeursamba, who defeated Mother Earth in her first French start this season. That race was the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches, the French 1000 Guineas, and Couersamba won it as a 38-1 shot by 1 1/4 lengths over favored Mother Earth.

Since late June, Major Artie has finished seventh twice and third once in lucrative handicaps on high-profile Saturday programs around Sydney, Australia.

Major Artie, trained by Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse, gets some class relief with a start in a handicap at 1 1/8 miles on the Kensington course at Royal Randwick in Sydney on Wednesday. The race is not as valuable as some of Major Artie’s recent starts.

Apologetic ended a four-race losing streak with a come-from-behind victory as the favorite in a six-furlong handicap at tiny Warracknabeal Racecourse on July 18.

Apologetic’s closing style could lead to another win on Monday in a seven-furlong handicap at Echuca Racecourse. Apologetic is part of a field of 12 in a race that should be run with a pace for him to pursue.

Norway, an Irish-bred gelding by Galileo, has had a diverse career on two continents. In 2019, Norway was eighth in the Group 1 English Derby and third in the Group 1 Irish Derby when trained by Aidan O’Brien.

Since early 2020, Norway has been based in Australia with several leading trainers. He was winless in his first 11 starts before winning his debut over hurdles in a maiden race at Warrnambool Racecourse on July 4.
