Hong Kong: Surging Lor sends out three with chances at Happy Valley

Frankie Lor’s seven winners at this early stage of the Hong Kong racing season ties him for third among trainers, and Lor looks like he can add to that total on the Wednesday, Oct. 13, card at Happy Valley.

Lor has contenders in all three Class 3 handicaps that close the eight-race Wednesday program. The handicaps all are for horses rated 80-60; races 6 and 7 are carded for 1,200 meters, race 8 over 1,650 meters.

Australia: Too Much Class seeks end to Newcastle skid in one-mile handicap

Too Much Class, the 4-year-old Australian-bred filly, has won three races, which equals the number of trainers she has had in her 12-race career.

Too Much Class won her debut in a one-mile handicap at Scone Racecourse on Sept. 24 in her first start for Jason Deamer. She was a two-time winner for the training partnership of Ciaron Maher and David Eustace last December and January.

None of the success has occurred at Newcastle, where Too Much Class starts in a one-mile handicap at Tuesday.

Australia: Mr Brightside favored to keep winning streak alive in Bet With Mates Cup at Ballarat

Mr Brightside, a 4-year-old New Zealand-bred gelding, has compiled a five-racing winning streak since mid-July that gives him the role of favorite in Sunday’s $146,000 Bet With Mates Cup at Ballarat Racecourse in Australia.

Aside from the wins, there have been several consistencies through the streak. All the races have been between seven furlongs and about a mile. Craig Williams has ridden Mr Brightside each time, often taking the role of stalker.

The experience is vital for success in the Bet With Mates Cup, a listed-class race previously known as the Seymour Cup.

Hong Kong: Flying Bonus gets help in the weights

Hong Kong Jockey Club
The LONGINES Hong Kong Mile victor Golden Sixty is the world’s joint-third top miler in the 2020 World’s Best Racehorse Rankings.

Sometimes Flying Bonus stops, and sometimes he does not. The confirmed front-runner’s chances in a given race are dependent on how much other speed shows. Flying Bonus shook loose on the lead and won a Class 3 handicap going 1,200 meters on the Sha Tin dirt track by more than two lengths in his first start this season and will try to take down a bigger prize in Sunday’s featured eighth race.
