Australia: Wellington Boot Showcase rescheduled for Tuesday due to rain

Excessive rain has forced alterations to the racing schedule in the Australian state of New South Wales in recent days.

Last Saturday, a program of major stakes at Rosehill Gardens in Sydney was moved to Newcastle Racecourse in the northern part of the state. Those races will be run on Monday.

Wellington Racecourse was scheduled to race on Sunday, but was rained out. The program will be held on Tuesday, led by the $151,000 Wellington Boot Showcase for Southern Hemisphere-bred 2-year-olds.

Australia: Two rescheduled Group 1 stakes go Monday at Newcastle

Two days later than expected, two Group 1 races – the $1.12 million Tancred Stakes and $375,450 Vinery Stakes – will be run Monday in Australia at Newcastle Racecourse.

The races were scheduled for Saturday at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney, but excessive rain forced the cancellation of the program after the third of 10 races.

The fields for the Group 1 races have remained largely intact, although the distance of the Vinery Stakes has been reduced from 1 1/4 miles to 1 1/8 miles because of course configurations.
