The Forbes Cup is a qualifying race for the newly created The Big Dance Stakes at a mile at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney on Nov. 1. The Big Dance has a purse of $1.39 million and is restricted to horses that have finished first or second in 26 qualifying races from last October to Oct. 9 this year at tracks in New South Wales.
Nashwa nailed the Nassau, the favored filly flying past older rivals Thursday at Goodwood Racecourse in England to win her second straight Group 1 race.
Last behind a slow middle pace, Nashwa gained ground on the leaders coming downhill toward the final flat section of the 1 1/4-mile Nassau, and once fully balanced she scrambled home a 1 3/4-length winner. Nashwa was the 6-5 favorite in England but paid just $3.80 on the American tote.

A 4-year-old gelding, JoJo Was A Man won his debut in March 2021 in Australia, but managed only one additional win in eight more starts last year.

Baaeed is rated the best horse in the world in the Longines World Thoroughbred Rankings, and he certainly was the best horse in the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday at Goodwood Racecourse.
Baaeed was nearly nonchalant winning the Group 1 Sussex by 1 3/4 lengths over 2021 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf victor Modern Games, who got eight pounds from 4-year-old Baaeed. In fact, Baaeed has been the best horse in all nine of his races. Top miler Palace Pier has come closest to beating Baaeed, having been beaten a neck in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes last October.
Wild Spree can win her second start of 2022 in a handicap at 6 1/2 furlongs at Echuca Racecourse in Australia, if she can draw into the race from the also-eligible list.
Wild Spree finished third of nine in a handicap at 5 1/2 furlongs at Ballarat Racecourse on July 10 in her first start in 15 months. Wild Spree closed from the back of the field to lose by slightly less than two lengths.
The comeback suggests that Wild Spree will benefit from a longer race at Ecucha.
