This has been a profitable post-Christmas period for the Australian filly Lady Laguna, who will start favored in the Group 3 Southern Cross Stakes at six furlongs at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in Sydney on Friday evening.
Lady Laguna ended a three-race losing streak with a come-from-behind win in the $136,200 Nudgee Stakes at six furlongs at Doomben Racecourse on Dec. 30, and followed with the richest win of her career in the $668,500 Magic Millions Fillies and Mares Stakes at 6 1/2 furlongs at Gold Coast on Jan. 13.

Karis Teetan believes Star Mac can measure up in the HK$13 million Hong Kong Classic Mile (1600m) this Sunday (4 February) at Sha Tin.
The lowest rated runner in the race on 64 and without a win from four starts in Hong Kong, Star Mac has the joint-least experience among the entries, however, continues to showcase an electrifying late burst which has returned two fast-finishing third placings in Class 3.

Godolphin, trainer Charlie Appleby, and jockey William Buick, pillars of the Dubai World Cup Carnival, dominated an all-stakes card Friday at Meydan Racecourse, winning four of eight Thoroughbred races, all on turf, including the Group 1 Jebel Hatta, where the rising 4-year-old Measured Time was tons the best.
Beaten an eyelash in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, Mawj has taken her talents back to Meydan Racecourse in Dubai, where she stars Friday on an all-stakes nine-race card that’s a stepping-stone to the Dubai World Cup card on March 30.
