Record nominations to Breeders' Cup

A record 16,272 foals were nominated to the Breeders' Cup program in 2006, Breeders' Cup Ltd. announced Friday. The number of foals by Breeders' Cup, European Breeders' Fund, and Common Fund nominated stallions tops the old mark of 16,263 from 2005 and is expected to increase when numbers of Southern Hemisphere foals are released.

Central Kentucky horsemen Greg and Beth Burchell have joined forces with former Magna Entertainment Corp. executive Don Amos to form Crossroads Sales, an agency that will consign horses to public auctions.
