Illman: How I'd play Belmont on Saturday, July 11

There are some intriguing horses racing at Belmont this Saturday. I'll key them in multiple-race wagers and will play them to win if they meet my personal value-line requirements.

Race 3 – Maiden special weight – Liam’s Prince (5) – morning line: 12-1, value line: 9-1

Hammersly: Los Alamitos pick three play for Sunday, July 12

Some competitive races on the back end of the Sunday card give the last pick three some appeal.

SAVANNAH SKY (#5) may have turned the corner. After two good seconds at Santa Anita, she broke through to get her diploma there June 5 for trainer Richard Baltas, who continues his superb year. It's also encouraging jockey Rafael Bejarano stays put, and there are three nice works since. It is her first run against winners so that's a hurdle.

Key Race report: Previous returns in optional claimer

Previous (#7, ML 5-1) returns in Friday's eighth race at Belmont Park, a one-mile optional claimer on turf. It will be her first start since finishing sixth by 6 1/2-lengths in an optional claimer April 15 at Aqueduct. The second-, third-, and fifth-place finishers from that race came back to win their next starts.

Hammersly: How I'd play Los Alamitos for Saturday, July 11

It's difficult to get too worked up over this card (three maiden races and three restricted claimers comprise the first six races, making a multi-race wager difficult to come by). The last three races do, however, present an opportunity for a pick three play.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 11th by Bob Fierro and Jay Kilgore

As Yogi Berra would say, "It's deja vu all over again."  We can virtually reprint our opening line from last week with a bit of a twist as our juvenile Pick Undisputed led the way over our runner-up Pick Surfside Tiara to return a modest $4.20-for-a-buck exacta.  (Hey, it's still real money).  On the other hand, our 3-year-old Pick apparently did not care to be competitive at all.  Four other BreezeFigs juvenile maidens won last week, at Ellis, Gulfstream, Laurel and Woodbine, while eight 3-year-
