TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Sunday, Feb. 26, 2017

Race 4:

Jeanjeannie (#6)

Got a curious ride last time when making a five-wide premature move on the turn before being eased late.

Had previously run competitive speed figures, albeit at longer distances.

David Jacobson has been winning at a high rate over the past few weeks.

3-1 on ML

Race 6:

Nocturnal Mission (#6)

DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Bill Mott is 11 for 36 (31 percent) with a $3.64 ROI with debuting 3-year-old fillies in dirt sprints.

Gierkink: How I'll play Gulfstream on Sunday, Feb. 26

The ninth race kicks off the late Pick 5 on this expanded 13-race card. In this $30,000 conditioned sprint, I will key the favored GRAND NENE (8), who came up empty in a recent turf experiment. His previous form was excellent, and trainer Jane Cibelli is 2 for 9 (22 percent) with turf/dirt runners competing second-time off the claim over the past five years ($1.04 ROI). Her go-to rider, the very capable Nik Juarez, retains the mount.

King: How I'll play Gulfstream for Saturday, Feb. 25

Let’s  shoot to get some fresh money in our pockets early at Gulfstream Park on Saturday by tackling  the opening pick three.. Here’s a look at the sequence and the horses I view as best used in the wager.

Race 1

Two horses appear a cut above the rest in this  mile maiden $50,000 claimer on grass – Looking At Thelake (5) and Final Flurry (8). Both are lightly raced, in good form, and share the top last-race Beyer Speed Figure in the field, a 67.

Race 2

TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017

Race 1:
Onecats Chance (#3)

Was shuffled back on the backstretch last time before making a five-wide run around the far turn.
A few key pace players should create an honest pace this time, setting up his late run.
Gets a positive rider switch to Irad Ortiz.
5-2 on ML

Hammersly: Santa Anita pick three for Sunday, Feb. 26

It’s been difficult to assess Santa Anita of late due to all the rain. We thought we might finally catch a break for Sunday’s card, but the forecast is for more of the wet stuff. At least it wasn’t to rain Friday and Saturday, so maybe Sunday’s moisture won’t affect the card significantly, giving the final pick three of the day (races 7-9) some appeal.

Race 7

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

If anything positive came out of our Pick last week it could be that when Clear N Convincing comes back, perhaps around two turns, he should be played. Other than that, it was another decent week for BreezeFigs maidens as 15 of them got to the wire first, really from coast-to-coast: Aqueduct, Gulfstream (three), Oaklawn (three, including a BreezeFigs exacta and a BreezeFigs trifecta), Parx, Sam Houston (two), Santa Anita (two), Tampa Bay (two) and Turfway.
