The late pick four at Santa Anita on Saturday features two stakes races, including one Grade 1. The Irish O’Brien and Santa Margarita feature horses who I believe could be vulnerable favorites, and I’ll try to beat them both. If the play connects, it’s likely to pay reasonably well.
RACE 7 – IRISH O’BRIEN
Race 3:
Life in Shambles (#3)
The Pace Projector is predicting that he will be among the front-runners in a situation favoring horses on or near the lead.
Should benefit from Kendrick Carmouche's aggressive tactics in a race lacking much early speed.

A first-level allowance route on grass launches the late pick five Sunday at Gulfstream Park, and CONQUEST SANDMAN (1) could run big in the third race of his form cycle. The rider switch from Luis Saez to Jose Ortiz could be construed as a positive for us Ortiz fans. The two comebackers in the field, MORAL HIGH GROUND (3) and ARGHAD (4), are both wild cards that should be used.

It was an eventful race but only Wanztbwicked managed to salvage any of our handicapping pride with a second-place finish to complete a $52 exacta and $22 quinella in our Pick. During a week that many pricey 2-year-olds who will appear on our cards starting in April were selling at OBSMAR, 11 of those BreezeFigs horses that sold at various venues last year broke their maidens. Five came home on top at Gulfstream (including a BreezeFigs exacta).
There is a lot of action for the multi-race exotics player on Saturday’s 13-race card at Gulfstream, with the Rainbow 6, two pick 5s, three pick 4s, and pick 3s virtually everywhere. But it is the middle pick 4, encompassing races 6 through 9, where I hope to make something interesting happen. Let’s have a look:
