Sunday’s card at Santa Anita is highlighted by the $70,000 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies, carded as the third race on a nine-race card. Based on its placement, I’ll look at the pick-five sequence beginning in race 1.

Race 2:
Perfectexpectation (#7)
Was contesting a very fast pace last time (indicated by red color-coding in the PPs) in a race that fell apart late.
Is projected to be on or near the lead in a race lacking much early pace.
Mike Maker gets a 94 Trainer Rating when using jockey Javier Castellano.

It's Maryland Million Day at Laurel, where it's fast and firm. The midcard pick four features races with apparent singles in the first and final legs, but perhaps there's some value to be had by going deep in the middle legs.

Race 2:
Droselmeyr’s Smile (#7)
Closed well in her debut and earned a competitive speed figure.
Is bred to stretch out in distance as a half-sister to four dirt-route winners.
The Pace Projector is predicting a fast pace, and she should be rallying from off the pace this time.

Besides a competitive renewal of the Grade 3 Dowager (race 8), the nine-race Sunday card at Keeneland offers some interesting opportunities. My main play will focus on a first-time starter, ANTARCTIC, who has been working very well in the mornings and appears to have found a relatively soft maiden special weight race for his debut in race 7.
But before then, I’ll try to get ahead and play the rest of the day with house money by starting the card with a $5 pick-three part-wheel going 2 x 3 x 2 ($60 total).
