Gulfstream Park is the only racetrack in the United States running graded stakes Saturday afternoon – five, to be exact. Combine the strong Gulfstream card with the lack of much else across the country from a stakes point of view and you’re left with an all-Gulfstream Weekend Warrior.

Two-year-old New York-bred filly was off to a slow start but picked it up with a strong move around the turn and finished well for second behind an experienced rival in a promising debut. Runners from this barn routinely improve after a race, so look for her to be tough wherever she shows up next.

Here’s a pick-four play to end the Sunday card at Gulfstream in which I’ll be relying on Jorge Navarro to have Can’t Say No ready to roll in race 9 after the flashy first-out winner was regrouped over at Gulf West following a disappointing loss in his most recent start in October.
At least we got the winner right last week as Forty Winds (whom we liked as a straight bet) won impressively—and though we didn’t care much for her, She’s Delightful, completed a $19.40 BreezeFigs exacta. On the same day at Gulfstream, first-time starter and longest shot on the board Ms Peintour absolutely hammered to a $133 payoff—someone wasn’t paying attention to her five-over-Par Group 1 profile at OBSJUN where she showed a 25.08 foot stride length.
Although they attracted a combined total of only 10 entrants, the two Grade 1, $300,000 route races for 2-year-olds at Los Alamitos Race Course – the Los Alamitos CashCall Futurity and the Starlet – are the marquee races on Saturday’s stakes schedule.
But also of considerable interest is the first North America running of the Clasico Internacional del Caribe at Gulfstream Park, topped by the $300,000 Clasico, or Caribbean Classic, if you like.
