Race 5:
Sister Sparrow (#8)
Showed brief speed before fading while racing over a surface that she may not have liked.
Is facing a much softer field after meeting a strong group of maidens in her first start.
DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Jeremiah Englehart is 8 for 23 (35 percent, $2.36 ROI) with horses dropping from maiden special weight to maiden-claiming company on dirt at NYRA.
5-1 on ML
The Saturday card at Aqueduct is rich in graded stakes races, highlighted by the Wood Memorial. I’m interested in two specific plays: an exacta in the Gazelle for 3-year-old fillies and a daily double beginning in the Bay Shore and ending with the Wood.
RACE 6 – GAZELLE
Race 3:
Brimstone (#4)
The Pace Projector is predicting that he will be on the lead in a situation favoring the front-runner.
Was compromised by a flat-footed break last time and was never able to make it to the lead.
His prior form is good enough to beat this field.
7-2 on ML
Race 7:
Harlan Punch (#5)
His disappointing loss at 3-5 last time is not as bad as it seems, as he got an uncomfortable trip after breaking slowly.

BEST BET: RACE 1, Drama Star
First Race
Sprinters take center stage later on the card, in the featured eighth race. The field entered for the optional $45K claiming race includes Grade 3 winner Guns Loaded and the Grade 1-placed Indexical. In the opener, DRAMA STAR gets the nod for his natural speed and consistent nature. SPEEDY DANSMERE has an age edge on that one and draws a post that might give Pompell options. SHOCKING BLUE exits same race as top choice.
The opening-day card at Keeneland, in Lexington, Ky., looks interesting, and I plan on focusing on the latter part in a pick three starting with race 7. It looks formful to me, but I’m hoping to beat morning-line faves in the first two legs.
The Easter Bunny did not deliver our Pick last week as Freeze Line finished fourth to sneak into the superfecta. Indeed, it was a quiet week for BreezeFigs maidens with seven of them getting home on top, but then again there weren’t many opportunities. The winners were at Charles Town, Gulfstream, Oaklawn (two), Santa Anita and Tampa Bay (two), BreezeFigs graduates did win and place third in the Florida Derby and Gulfstream Oaks, the latter resulting in a BreezeFigs trifecta.
