TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Sunday, May 27, 2018

Race 1:
Blue Atlas (#5)

Has tried going long a few times, but clearly has run her best races sprinting.

Her return last time was not nearly as bad as it seems given the fast pace.

The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring runners on or near the lead, and she can be the main speed if John Velazquez wants to send her.

TimeformUS Belmont Horses in Focus for Saturday, May 26, 2018

Race 4:
All Clear (#2)

The Pace Projector is predicting that he will be on the lead in a situation favoring the front-runner.

Ran fast enough in his debut, if he can transfer that form to turf.

Is sired by budding turf influence Country Day and his second dam was a decent turf horse.

4-1 on ML

Bernier: How I'd play Santa Anita for Saturday, May 26, 2018

Saturday’s card at Santa Anita features three graded stakes races: two of the Grade 1 variety as well as a Grade 2. Race 5 is the Gold Cup at Santa Anita, with a solid group of older horses going 1 1/4 miles on the main track. Race 6 is the Whittingham at 1 1/4 miles on the turf course, and I think there’s an opportunity to take a mild swing against the likely favorite, Itsinthepost. I’ll play a few daily doubles linking races 5 and 6.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 26, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

The Mighty Judge, our Pick last week, struck out by one-pacing around the track. Still, it was a good week for BreezeFigs maidens as two of the juveniles won (at Golden Gate and Indiana). Meanwhile, eight 3-year-olds won, at: Belmont (two), Churchill, Monmouth, Parx, Pimloco and Santa Anita (two). That’s spreading the wealth around. Logically at this time of the year the number of first-time 3-year-olds starts to diminish, and we have no strong feelings about that card Saturday.
