King: Belmont pick four for Saturday, July 7th

Unlike Saturday’s late pick five at Belmont, which is restricted to bettors in New York and those wagering through NYRA’s ADW platform, the late pick four there, covering all the stakes but the Dwyer, is open to all. Below is my analysis of the sequence, which begins on race 7, and a suggested ticket.

Goulding: How I'll play Woodbine on Sunday, July 8

Excluding the $100,000 Shepperton, where 1-9 morning-line favorite Pink Lloyd likely will win his 12th straight stakes race, most of the races on the 11-race card at Woodbine on Sunday are wide-open events.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, July 7, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Our 2-year-old Pick, Market Bubble, showed quality and class in his debut and got away at a generous $7.90, but our 3-year-old Pick, Super Bonita got off slow and finished slower last week. Still, it was a very successful week for BreezeFigs maidens, with eight of the 3-year-olds winning at: Belmont, Evangeline, Finger Lakes, Gulfstream (two), Los Alamitos and Monmouth (two).

Race 1:
Fact Check (#5)

The Pace Projector is predicting a situation favoring horses on or near the lead, and he may be the controlling speed.

The first- and second-place finishers out of his last race have returned to improve.

DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Jason Servis is 9 for 34 (26 percent, $2.39 ROI) with horses going from sprints to turf routes at NYRA.

Weekend Warrior for Saturday, July 7: Picks for Belmont Derby, Parx Dash, Arlington Handicap

Barbara D. Livingston
My Boy Jack has competed in four preps in four different states en route to the Kentucky Derby.

NEW YORK – There is the Grade 3, $300,000 Delaware Oaks at Delaware Park; the Grade 2, $200,000 Great Lady M. at Los Alamitos; the Grade 3, $200,000 Parx Dash at Parx Racing; and the Arlington Million Preview Day program at Arlington. But the biggest doings Saturday will be on Belmont Park’s Stars and Stripes Day card of five graded stakes events, led by the Grade 1, $1.2 million Belmont Derby and the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Oaks.

Race 6:
Themanbehindtheman (#7)

May be able to secure the early lead from Morrison given his inside post position.

The inner turf course tends to favor horses with his running style, especially going this distance.

Was hindered by traffic trouble around the eighth pole last time and otherwise would have been closer to Morrison.

Race 2

Diamond Jen Brady (#6)

Became embroiled in a fast pace last time, her first start since a layoff.

Mark Hennig, who gets just a 58 TimeformUS Trainer Rating first off a layoff, has a 100 TimeformUS Trainer Rating second off a layoff.

Should encounter a more favorable pace scenario this time.
