Race 6: Joyful Heart (#2)
Ran well in the With Anticipation last time despite traveling a distance that was too far for him.
Showed a ton of ability over this course and distance against maidens.
Should be able to secure the early lead over a course that is favoring the inside path.
8-1 on ML

Bernier: How I'll play Santa Anita on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018

Generally, when I look at a day’s races at any given track, I’m searching for opportunity in a multirace sequence, whether it be a daily double, pick three, pick four, pick five or pick six. Occasionally, a scenario presents itself where a horse is entered in a spot that I’ve anxiously been waiting for; typically, I’ll look to build my multis around said horse, but in an instance like the one presented on Saturday, I don’t want to come up empty if he happens to run well but doesn’t win.

Race 2: Malthael (#1)

Never really had a chance last time in a race dominated toward the front end.

Drew an advantageous post position toward the inside over a course that has featured a strong rail bias.

DRF Formulator Fact: Over the past five years, Christophe Clement is 16 for 68 (24 percent, $2.25 ROI) with non-debuting maidens getting Lasix for the first time in turf races.

Hersh: Transatlantic pick 4 for Sunday, Oct. 7

The Transatlantic pick four will stretch your handicapping skills, including two Group 1s from Longchamp and two Grade 1s at Belmont.

The sequence starts with the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which for me is a two-horse race between 4-year-old filly ENABLE and 3-year-old filly SEA OF CLASS. The latter has more upside and a worse draw, the former more proven form – including a decisive win in this race last year – and a better draw. Enable though is a heavy favorite who, owing to a leg injury early in the year, has raced only once going into this.

BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, October 6, 2018 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Let us not discuss how embarrassing last week’s Pick was. Instead, we will concentrate on the 17 BreezeFigs juveniles who broke their maidens during the week, several of them kicking off nice gimmicks. These winners came at Belmont (three, including two BreezeFigs trifectas), Churchill (a BreezeFigs trifecta), Finger Lakes, Gulfstream (four, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Indiana (two, including a BreezeFigs exacta), Parx (two), Penn (three) and Santa Anita.

Hammersly: Pick 5 play for Saturday at Keeneland

Saturday’s all-stakes Pick 5 at Keeneland (races 6-10) is a mouthwatering opportunity, with horses going after the day’s big prize while prepping for a possible shot at the Breeders’ Cup - meaning there are deep fields and some attractive prices with plenty of chances at paydirt.

Pick six, late pick five carryovers into Friday at Belmont

ELMONT, N.Y. – There is a carryover into the pick six and the late pick five at Belmont Park heading into Friday’s card.

For the second straight day, no one hit the pick six, resulting in a carryover of $106,743. The sequence on Friday starts with race 4 (3:09 p.m. eastern). The sequence includes four turf races. All of Thursday’s scheduled turf racing stayed on the grass though the nightcap was run in a rainstorm. The rain subsided after the race and no more rain was in the forecast through the weekend.
