Free: Santa Anita horses to watch for week of Feb. 18, 2019

DADDYS REAL DIVA

Trainer: Walther Solis

Last race: Feb. 14, 5th

Finish: 2nd by neck

Beyer: 48

This maiden filly was compromised by a tentative ride and tough trip in sloppy surface sprint. Pressed inside, she was shuffled back at the three-eighths, lost position, re-rallied, and probably was best.

HARD NOT TO LOVE

Trainer: John Shirreffs

Last race: Feb. 16, 1st

TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Monday, Feb. 18, 2019

Race 1: Star Sweep (#1)
Took some noteworthy money in her debut despite failing to get involved.
Is taking the biggest drop of all, from maiden special weight to maiden claiming company.
The nine horses to run back out of that She Takes Charge race subsequently improved their TimeformUS Speed Figures by a range between 17 and 47 points.

Gierkink: How I'll play Gulfstream on Sunday, Feb. 17

TRENCHTOWN CAT (6) looks like a standout in the opening leg of the early Pick 5. The full sister to stakes-placed turf sprinter Princess Princess came close to landing her debut in another five-furlong maiden special on the grass. She’s since changed trainers, going to the hot Rohan Crichton, who has impressive numbers with new shooters, and when using Irad Oritz Jr.

The second race, a $6,250 mile, can probably be pared down to the in-form favorites FIRST DISTINCTION (2) and GRACE’S DRAMA (7).

TimeformUS Aqueduct Horses in Focus for Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019

Race 2: Flatexcel (#4)
The Pace Projector is predicting that he will be on the lead early, and inside speed has been very dangerous recently.
The added distance should be no problem since he won his maiden around two turns as a younger horse.
Will appreciate getting back on a fast track.
