Race 3: Shennan (#6)
May not have appreciated boggy going in his U.S. debut last time, which was run during a rainstorm.
Was compromised by a slow break last time.
Showed real promise in Ireland prior to the layoff.

“It’s a busy weekend in the racing world” pretty much goes without saying when Saratoga and Del Mar are in session. Indeed, with an iconic pair of Grade 1 events, the Alabama and Pacific Classic, on tap at those respective tracks, the stage is set for another great Saturday for racing fans to enjoy.
Furthering the horseplaying experience are the other tracks pitching in, such as Mountaineer a couple of weeks ago and Arlington last week. This week, it’s Woodbine with its third jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown, the Breeders’ Stakes.
Breeders’ Stakes
Race 3: Tale of Silence (#4)
Is finally dropping into a realistic spot off a steady diet of graded stakes races that may have been too tough.
Was compromised by a wide trip in the Met Mile last time and a slow pace in the Gulfstream Park Mile the time before that.
Ran one of the best races of his career going this distance at Saratoga when fourth in the Grade 1 Allen Jerkens.
5-2 on ML
Race 5: Katama Moonlight (#2)
Was green in her debut when closing belatedly for third.
Is bred to relish any added ground she can get as a full sister to dirt-route stakes winner Noble Moon.
Has reportedly been working very well for this return to the races.
4-1 on morning line

Last race: Aug. 7, race 1
Finish: 2nd by 1 1/2

A debut 2-year-old colt by promising first-crop sire Competitive Edge, this colt lagged off the pace and finished with run in a promising turf-sprint debut. Should handle dirt.

Date: Aug. 10, 8th
Finish: 4th by 2 1/2
Beyer: 52
Closed with interest to get a small part in this race, which was a little light on pace and was controlled by the speeds. Can run down the right group with a better setup.

Decent late pick four on Sunday, Aug. 11, at Del Mar spanning races 5-8. Possible singles for me in races 5, with Indy Jones (#11), and race 7 with Anonymity (#5), but I’ll shell out a few extra bucks for slightly more coverage in both races.
Race 1: One Eyed Jack (#2)
Bred to stretch out, being out of a dam who is a full sister to turf router Doctor Mounty and a half to dirt router Dabster.
Compromised by a slow pace in his debut when gamely chasing home the two early leaders.
That debut speed figure was validated when runner-up Free Enterprise came back to run a strong second at Saratoga.
5-2 on ML
Race 8: Grade 2 Saratoga Special
Green Light Go (3) showed speed in his dominant debut win, though that pace wasn't particularly fast – and won under strong handling with a solid 84 Beyer. The horse that finished second returned to win up here with an 83, flattering that performance. Green Light Go has trained strongly since that race and is the horse to beat.
The other horse for me is Noose (1). He has to get faster but he was very professional in blowing out the field once finding room in the stretch first time out.
