BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, February 22, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

The day started out perfectly when our longshot key at Fair Grounds, Dreamalildreamofu was the runner-up to a 13-to-1 shot to kick of juicy gimmicks if you used her. Then we were not amused to see our other Pick Charlotte Webley get pushed right to the front and open up daylight in her debut at Aqueduct because we thought she needs to settle and come off the pace. Whatever. She threw it in at the eight pole.

Weekend GamePlan: Picks for Buena Vista, Tampa Turf Dash, and Downthedustyroad

Emily Shields

The winner of the Zia Park Oaks has done her best work on the front end, so her cause was hardly served when she did not get the break in the Grade 3 Bayakoa. She came out of the gate last of all in a departure from her typical form as she tends to break sharply.

Won the battle but lost the war, as he finished in front of his two pace rivals but could not stave off the two closers who made up the exacta; dangerous if able to shake loose next time against similar.

Welsch: Going after Thursday's $200,000 pick five carryover

Coady Photography
Flat Awesome Jenny (No. 4) comes into race 9 at Gulfstream on Thursday in top form, and is a must-use in the pick five.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - The $1 million Rainbow 6 carryover might be gone but the sequence that produced that winning ticket on Monday also led to a carryover in excess of $200,000 in the late pick five over the final five races Thursday at Gulfstream Park.

The pick five sequence consists of three turf races and two on the dirt, including the afternoon’s feature race, a modest six-furlong optional-claiming dash at six furlongs, which drew a field of eight.

Here is a look at Thursday’s pick five:
