BreezeFigs Quick-Pix for Saturday, May 9, 2020 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Not a bad week overall as our main Pick, Scolding, was extremely impressive in her debut and very generous in an even money payoff. Our other Pick, Uncle Addouma, completed the super two races later. There were four other BreezeFigs maidens who won during the week on the light racing scene, another at Oaklawn, two at Gulfstream and one at Tampa Bay. This week also marked the beginning of baby races in which BreezeFigs graduates of this year’s OBSMAR sale have been entered.

Brad Free's cross-country plays for Friday, May 8, 2020

It is “longshot Friday” at Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs, where three late-afternoon price plays warrant consideration.

Gulfstream Park race 6 (3:45 p.m. ET) – May Day Info (3) lost her debut by 18 lengths, but she might have more ability than evident. She was hard-held early while climbing from the kickback and did not get comfortable until moving to the outside. She adds blinkers, picks up a top rider, and should improve a bunch second time out. May Day Info is listed at 6-1.

Millions on the line in Rainbow 6 mandatory payout

War of Will will make his 2020 debut on turf in Saturday’s $75,000 Sunshine Forever Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Here we go again!

Less than three weeks after a forceout of the Rainbow 6 pool resulted in a payout of $20,158 for a 20-cent ticket on April 19, Gulfstream Park will give fans another opportunity to go for the big money by offering a mandatory payout of the pool here Saturday.

Barring anyone holding a unique winning ticket in the Rainbow 6 either Thursday or Friday, a carryover of nearly $1.5 million is likely to be on the table, with a final pool that could climb to $7 million to $9 million by the time the last dollar is wagered.

Brad Free's Gulfstream Park plays for Thursday, May 7, 2020

Gulfstream Park is the only game in town Thursday. Wagering recommendations on the country’s lone Thoroughbred program are limited to a pair of small pick three plays and a longshot win bet.

Gulfstream Park pick three races 1-3 (1:35 p.m. ET) – A maiden-claiming turf sprint, a 2-year-old dash with an obligatory Wesley Ward-trained favorite, and a claiming sprint kicks off the card.

Brad Free's cross-country plays for Wednesday, May 6, 2020

The possible reopening of California means Santa Anita could be racing next weekend. We’ll see. Meantime, fiscally responsible pick threes Wednesday at Will Rogers Downs and Tampa Bay Downs look interesting, as does a win bet on a horse we tried last month.

Will Rogers Downs pick three races 3-5 (3:15 p.m. ET) – A small $12 play will try to establish value early by including only two in the opening leg, leaving off the program favorite.
