Gulfstream is looking to displace Calder at the center of the summer and fall racing calendar in South Florida.

Daily Racing Form has served as the most trusted source of news and information about the sport since 1894, and moving forward we have decided to provide a free daily playbook – something that both hardcore horseplayers and casual observers can reference to get informed of each day’s action.

After our Aqueduct Pick was burned to a crisp in the first half mile we were still surprised that Dream Pire, our Remington Pick later that night, went off at 19-to-1—but very pleased when she finished second to complete a $199 exacta and fill out all the gimmicks nicely. Otherwise it was a fairly quiet week for BreezeFigs maidens—half a dozen of them won at Aqueduct, Gulfstream (two), Oaklawn, Parx and Remington. Four 3-year-olds got home on top at Aqueduct, Los Alamitos, Parx and Tampa Bay.

Weekend GamePlan for Dec. 18, 2021: Picks for Fort Lauderdale, Suwannee River, Fifth Avenue

’Twas the week before Christmas and all through the country . . . it was raining.

At every American racing venue hosting stakes racing Saturday there’s a meaningful chance of rain, and at most of them the meteorologists seem certain, which makes for difficult handicapping 48 hours out. Gulfstream Park easily has the best card and there, at least, there’s less than a 50 percent chance of rain. Here’s hoping for a dry one.
