BreezeFigs Quick-Pix Saturday, February 5, 2022 by Bob Fierro & Jay Kilgore

Our Pick last week, Banjo Queen, did not make music for us but the rest of the week was excellent for BreezeFigs maidens. An even dozen of them came home on top at: Aqueduct; Charles Town, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream (three), Laurel (BreezeFigs exacta), Oaklawn (two), Parx, Penn, and Tampa Bay (BreezeFigs exacta). Weather will play a role today and the card is very short with only two first-timers, but one of them is very interesting, see below.

Weekend GamePlan for Feb. 5, 2022: Picks for Holy Bull, Endeavour, Sweetest Chant

Barbara D. Livingston
Giant Game (above), Howling Time, and Red Knobs all breezed for trainer Dale Romans on Tuesday.

Oaklawn Park has canceled, the weather in New York, where Aqueduct had a two-stakes card, looks rough, and Santa Anita’s stakes feel chalky. Let’s make it an all-Florida affair in this Weekend GamePlan.

Holy Bull

Todd Pletcher has merely won four of the last 10 stakes he’s entered, a cataclysmic drop from his start to the Gulfstream Park championship meet, when Pletcher entered horses in six stakes and won them all.

Free: Nationwide thoughts and opinions

Forbidden Kingdom set blazing fractions en route to a 2 1/4-length victory in the seven-furlong San Vicente. He is scheduled to make his two-turn debut in his next start, the San Felipe.

ARCADIA, Calif. – Wintertime notes and opinions are piling up, from Santa Anita to Meydan to Oaklawn Park and Gulfstream Park. Stuff like this . . .

Distance test coming

Distance-skeptical about Forbidden Kingdom? His dam, by Five Star Day, did not race beyond six furlongs; her first three foals never won beyond six. But Forbidden Kingdom was downright dazzling in the seven-furlong Grade 2 San Vicente on Saturday at Santa Anita, especially compared to Flightline’s seven-furlong Grade 1 Malibu.
