SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - After narrowly winning a graded stakes with a 1-5 shot on Friday and then beating a similarly priced, prohibitive favorite with a 17-1 chance in the Grade 1 Test the following afternoon, trainer Wesley Ward summed up his feelings in just three words: “It’s a dream,” Ward said on Sunday, after having sent out stable star Golden Pal to win the Grade 3 Troy here on Friday and Chi Town Lady to upset the seemingly unbeatable Matareya in the prestigious Test just 24 hours later.

Cyberknife will stand at Spendthrift Farm after racing career

Multiple Grade 1 winner Cyberknife will stand at Spendthrift Farm upon the conclusion of his racing career, the farm announced on Sunday afternoon.

Cyberknife is from the red-hot first crop of Horse of the Year Gun Runner, and becomes the first prominent son of the stallion with a stud deal formally announced.

Great mares Beholder, Tepin among those saluted at Hall of Fame induction

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Between them, Beholder and Tepin won six Eclipse Award statues. They now have between them two Hall of Fame plaques which were presented to their connections Friday morning.

Canadian Hall of Fame inductees for 2020 and 2021 get their night

Tepin, winner of the 2016 Woodbine Mile, will be inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame this year.

The delayed event recognizing the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame classes for 2020 and 2021 was staged at the Mississauga Convention Center in suburban Toronto on Wednesday night.

The class of 2020 inductees on the Thoroughbred side were jockey Gary Boulanger, trainer Mike Keogh, and builder Sue Leslie.

Flightline listed as Breeders' Cup Classic Future Wager favorite

Flightline, the undefeated 4-year-old who romped to victory in the Metropolitan Mile in his only start this year, has been listed as the 3-1 morning-line favorite for the Breeders’ Cup Classic future pool, which opens on Friday.

Flightline is one of 24 betting interests in the Classic future wager, along with 22 other individual horses and an “all-others” option. Betting will close at 7:30 p.m. Eastern on Sunday.

Beholder, Tepin lead eight inductees into Hall of Fame

Led by the outstanding mares Beholder and Tepin, four horses and four people will be inducted into the National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame Friday morning at the Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., right around the corner from the Hall of Fame.

Tom Durkin, the retired, longtime racecaller, will again serve as emcee of the ceremony, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Eastern. The ceremony is open to the public. It will be broadcast live on the museum’s website, www.racingmuseum.org.

Rich Strike works at Churchill in preparation for Travers

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Rich Strike was back on the scene of his epic Kentucky Derby victory, breezing five furlongs in 1:01 early Monday over a sloppy track at Churchill Downs as the colt continues preparations for his next start, in the Aug. 27 Travers at Saratoga.

Regular exercise rider Gabriel Retana was aboard Rich Strike in the solo work. The Keen Ice colt galloped out six furlongs in 1:14.

“Oh man, he went great,” trainer Eric Reed said shortly afterward. “Gabe said he was as good as ever and wanted more. Terrific work.”
