Danedream takes Germany's top race Grosser Preis von Baden

The 3-year-old filly Danedream notched her second straight blowout victory in a German Group 1, winning the Grosser Preis von Baden, Germany’s premier race, by six lengths over Night Magic on Sunday at Baden-baden.

Tracking the pace of Night Magic on a course turned very soft by driving rain, Danedream eased into the lead a quarter-mile from the finish and went unchallenged the rest of the way, winning easily under Andrasch Stark. Joshua Tree, who may return to Woodbine to defend his title in the Canadian International, was left well behind in third.

Currency Swap, with Rajiv Maragh riding, wins his racing debut, earning a Beyer Speed Figure of 98.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Power World may not possess the gaudy speed figures that some of his rivals do, but he does have more experience, something that could give him an edge in a highly contentious renewal of Monday’s Grade 1, $250,000 Hopeful Stakes at Saratoga.

A field of 10 2-year-old maiden winners will contest the seven furlongs of the Hopeful, the highlight of an 11-race closing-day program that also includes the Grade 3 Glens Falls for fillies and mares at 1 3/8 miles on turf.

J C’s Pride, who set a track record for 5 1/2 furlongs when he ran the distance here in 56.54 seconds here on July 27, heads a field of 10 juveniles entered for the $250,000 Hopeful, the featured event on Monday’s 11-race closing- day card at Saratoga.
