One day after Balance the Books earned his way into the race by winning the Bourbon Stakes at Keeneland, Noble Tune punched his ticket to the $1 million Juvenile Turf with a visually impressive 2 1/2-length score in Monday’s Grade 3, $150,000 Pilgrim Stakes at Belmont Park.

ELMONT, N.Y. – The undefeated Shanghai Bobby, winner of the Grade 1 Champagne on Saturday at Belmont Park, will make his next start in the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita on Nov. 3, his connections said Monday.

Shanghai Bobby earned a fees-paid berth into the Juvenile by virtue of his five-length victory in the Champagne – a Win and You’re In race – but afterward his connections were somewhat reluctant to commit to the race.

Kitten’s Point, Oscar Party, and Always Kitten look like the top contenders among the 13 fillies in the 1 1/16-mile Jessamine, including one also-eligible. The winner gets an expenses-paid trip to the Nov. 2 BC Juvenile Fillies Turf.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Forte dei Marmi and Kissable, both trained here by Roger Attfield, breezed five furlongs in company on the main turf course here Monday morning in preparation for Canadian International Day engagements on Sunday.

Forte de Marmi’s target is the $1.5 million Canadian International, a 1 1/2-mile race for 3-year-olds and up, while Kissable is heading to the $1 million E.P. Taylor, a 1 1/4-mile race for fillies and mares.

LEXINGTON, Ky. – It’s not all that often that expectations are exceeded the way that Wise Dan and Groupie Doll did in their victories on the opening FallStars Weekend at Keeneland.

But both were spectacular in capturing their respective races as heavy favorites Saturday, pretty much clinching favoritism in their upcoming races in the Nov. 2-3 Breeders’ Cup at Santa Anita.

Woodbine notes: River Seven eyes Coronation Futurity after Grey upset

River Seven wins the Grey Stakes by three-quarters of a length on Sunday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – River Seven was a maiden coming into last Sunday’s $224,800 Grey Stakes, in which the undefeated Uncaptured was a heavy favorite. But when the dust cleared following the running of the Grey and a claim of foul by Uncaptured’s rider, Patrick Husbands, it was River Seven in the winner’s circle and the favorite ending 4 1/4 lengths back in fifth.

River Seven, an Ontario-foaled gelding, turned the tables on the Kentucky-bred Tesseron, who had left him a half-length back in second place in a mile and 70-yard maiden race here Sept. 3.
