About Sports Betting in Georgia

With its robust population, rabid college sports fandom, and a fair amount of pro franchises to boot, Georgia would make for a fruitful sports wagering environment if its lawmakers ever found a way to get this form – or any form – of gambling across the legislative goal line.

It's not like they haven't tried, with multiple legislative efforts coming close but ultimately failing to gain the requisite support. With key political opposition somewhat entrenched, the Peach State is like a smaller, more hopeful version of Texas on the sports betting front.

Barbara D. Livingston
Skippylongstocking finished 40 lengths behind winner Banishing in the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. reported that Skippylongstocking seems none the worse for wear following his very disappointing performance last Friday when virtually eased to the wire nearly 40 lengths behind winner Banishing in the Grade 2 Charles Town Classic.

“He got pressured early and went quick on the lead for that track and came out of the race with a good case of the thumps, but neither should cause him to run a race like that,” Joseph said.
