Mister Omaha has been working at Remington since finishing third to Magnitude in the Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows.

Mister Omaha is scheduled to make his next start in the $250,000 Super Derby on Sept. 6 at Louisiana Downs, according to his trainer, Joe Offolter. Entries for the 1 1/8-mile race will be taken Saturday.

Mister Omaha is one of the top 3-year-olds based at Remington Park. He has been working over the Oklahoma City strip since finishing third to Magnitude in the Iowa Derby at Prairie Meadows.

“I thought he ran good last time,” Offolter said. “We just hooked a bear.”

Offolter confident stretching out pair

The distance of Friday night’s $50,000 colts and geldings division of the Oklahoma Stallion Handicap at Remington Park is a question mark for 122-pound highweight Colonel Yorke and the capable Joe Offolter trainees Night Passage and Cajun Stoops.

The horses will all start as top betting choices, but none of them have won at the seven-furlong distance of the race, which is restricted to 3-year-olds by eligible stallions. The card also includes the $50,000 fillies division of the Oklahoma Stallion Handicap, led by Eireann.

Cazares steps Hot Cargo up off claim

Since November 2024, Hot Cargo has been claimed four times in six starts.

When trainer Laura Cazares claimed Hot Cargo for $25,000 in July, she intended to run her back at the same level at Gulfstream Park. After the 5-year-old mare showed improvement in Cazares’s barn at Palm Meadows, however, the trainer wasn’t ready to risk parting ways with her just yet at the same price.

“Since I’ve had her in my barn, I feel like she’s improved off that last race she gave,” Cazares said. “I figured I would give her an opportunity to step up and maybe hang around in my barn a little longer.”

Three-time Grade 1 winner Program Trading (right) hasn't raced since June 2024. He is 5 for 7 in his career.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Any discussion regarding Friday’s $150,000 Bernard Baruch Stakes at Saratoga must begin with three-time Grade 1 winner Program Trading, who returns from a near 15-month layoff to face five seemingly outclassed rivals going 1 1/16 miles over the inner turf.

Dynamic Pricing drops down to try and snatch the Perfect Sting

Barbara D. Livingston
Dynamic Pricing likely would have run in the Grade 2 Ballston Spa had it not been moved from its regular spot on Travers weekend.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – It isn’t often a horse who won a Grade 1 stakes in June shows up in a listed stakes in August. Such is the case, however, with Dynamic Pricing, who two months ago won the Grade 1 Just a Game here but two starts later is entered to run in Friday’s $150,000 Perfect Sting Stakes going a mile at Saratoga.

Horizon Stakes 1-2-3 hit the turf in pair of stakes

Coady Media
Ronnis Second Wind has won back-to-back races for Robert Cline.

The hard-knocking Ohio-bred filly Parlay turned in another fine effort against males last time out, finishing third behind Ronnis Second Wind and Just Like Rambo in the Horizon Stakes. Their paths diverge Friday, as Parlay goes back to turf to face her own gender and the two geldings face older runners in the co-features at Belterra Park.

Hastings shipper Soaringforthesun gets class relief in local debut

Emerald Downs scenic 2025

Soaringforthesun will make the three-hour van ride from Hastings for Friday's race at Emerald.

Not accounting for border snafus, it takes three hours and change to get from Hastings to Emerald Downs when traffic’s moving smoothly. Given the close proximity, relatively comparable class of races, and similar meet dates, it would seem to make a ton of sense for Thoroughbreds to be whipping to and fro in trailers along the Pacific Northwest’s Interstate 5 corridor – but that hasn’t been the case this year.

Iowa Man Sues DraftKings for Voiding $14.2 Million in Wagers

A Dallas County, Iowa, resident has sued sports betting giant DraftKings and its subsidiary, Crown IA Gaming, for allegedly refusing to pay $14.2 million he claims he won.

DraftKings, one of America’s two largest sports betting operators, voided Nicholas Bavas’ winnings due to "internal errors." The company said it maintains the right to refuse winning payments caused by errors, which the company said Bavas agreed to when he accepted their terms and conditions.

Uncorked can pop in heavily conditioned turf sprint

Uncorked gets into Friday's allowance through a secondary condition that allows for nonwinners of $65,000 since April 29.

DEL MAR, Calif. – An old mare is learning a new trick this season in California, and it might produce an overdue victory in the featured seventh race Friday at Del Mar.

Uncorked, a 6-year-old who previously was a turf router, has become a turf sprinter. Based on two runner-up finishes in stakes since shortening up, Uncorked should be tough dropping into an allowance at five furlongs on turf.
