Top Pick Stats: 41/129 (-$49.60) Best Bets: 4/11 (-$6.10); Spot Plays: 6/12 ($10.70) Best Bet: TROPICAL CYCLONE (Race 3) Spot Play: BUCK DANCER (Race 10) Early Pick-5: 2,6,8/2,6,8/6/5,8/6,9   $7.20 Late Pick-5: 3,8/6,9/4,6/1,2/6   $3.20 Race 1: FILLIES & MARES, NW $1,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $9,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $12,500. AE: NW $1,500 IN 2026. If you’ve been following, you’ll understand why I’m trying (2) MY ONLY SUNSHINE again after a no chance drive in her latest. The ability is there. (8) CHEESE PARTY looked like she would step forward last week, but was scratched due to the weather. She will need to be put in play. (6) CHIEFS DREAM GIRL has been getting checks in recent weeks, and now drops again to the bottom level. A step forward seems likely. [DRF HARNESS: Get Harness Eye PPs for this card] Race 2: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $50,000 IN 2025 INELIGIBLE). AE: NW $20,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS) LEG 1. (6) CLASSIC MAGIC should find this Pop-Up Series more to her liking after taking some air on the outside in her latest. J-Mac gave her the nod over two others. (8) WHEELIN N STEALIN was put in play last week and got a perfect trip. His fate from the high draw will be determined in the first eighth. (2) OFF ROAD HANOVER was better in his latest when following cover. Give him a live helmet and he could be right there late. Race 3: FILLIES & MARES, 5 YEAR OLDS & YOUNGER, NW 1 RACE (WINNERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS 3 RACES) OR $9,000 LIFETIME. NO ALLOWANCES. (6) TROPICAL CYCLONE managed to find an opening after saving ground around the final turn. She raced well on debut and should be better tonight. (4) SUNWASHED looks to be a project filly, but she is slowly getting better. She was moving decently when racing between horses in the stretch. (7) BEAUTY WISH tried a speed mission on an off track, but faded back to fourth. Different tactics might be employed tonight. Race 4: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR A PURSE OF $9,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (W/O $50,000 IN 2025 INELIGIBLE). AE: NW $20,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS) LEG 1. (5) LILYS LASS continues to put herself in positions to win. She was a sharp second last week off the claim and should be forwardly placed again. (8) SHUTTER GREEN was just even last week but was coming off a sick scratch. She will need to use a little gate speed tonight. (9) LEGACYS JAILBREAK has come up short in three straight efforts while going off as the favorite. A two-move effort might be in store again from the high draw. Race 5: FILLIES & MARES, NW $9,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $21,500 LAST 8 STARTS. AE: OPT. CLM. $50,000. AE: $120,000 LIFETIME. AE: 4 YR OLDS. (9) SUGAR PIE HONEY has had a near flawless return to racing, but was just picked off last week. I expect another good effort and for her to be one of the first off the car. (6) LA MIKI needed that effort on 1/9 to propel her into last week. She was the mare that was able to beat Sugar Pie Honey. (2) BETTERNOTMACHME was closing best of all in the stretch and ended up dead heating for second. Curious what trip she gets this week. Race 6: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR PURSE OF $11,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (WO $100,000 IN 2025 NE). AE: NW $40,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS) LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS (3) PIPEWRENCH CHARLIE was part of a three-across finish last week when dropping into this series. He fits much better at this conditioned level, and could work out a good trip tonight. (8) TRICKY MCWICKY is likely to try another speed mission with McNair giving him the nod. He hasn’t been able to finish in his last two starts, though. (7) NAZARE was a horse who I was going to let beat me, and he did. Simple as that. I’m still not the most confident in him working out another first over trip to the winner’s circle. Race 7: FILLIES & MARES, NW $6,000 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $12,750 LAST 8 STARTS (W/O $21,500 LAST 8 STARTS N/E) AE: OPT. CLM. $30,000. (6) SHOOT THE WHISKEY looks primed for a good effort if she can work out a trip. She was shuffled two starts ago and others got the jump on her, and last week was a trip around the track from a bad post. She could go all the way. (9) UTOPIA BLUE CHIP came up short last week after a delayed move to the front. A similarly bad post tonight should add value, but makes her job tougher. (7) WASAIL BLUE CHIP was better last week, and should find her way onto the ticket if she steps forward. Race 8: POP UP SERIES: STARTERS FOR PURSE OF $11,000 OR LESS IN L3 STARTS (WO $100,000 IN 2025 NE). AE: NW $40,000 IN 2025 (MIN 10 STARTS) LEG 2. AE: LEG 1 STARTERS. (4) HONOLULU VACATION’s backers suffered a tough beat last week when he just got picked off at 2-1. I’ll go right back to him in leg two of this series. (6) CODE CRACKER has won four of his last six starts and was a winner in his division last week. He is extremely logical. (3) DELIGHTFUL LEADER finally gets some post relief and has enough closing kick to get him onto the ticket. [DRF HARNESS: Sign up for our FREE DRF Harness Digest Newsletter] Race 9: FILLIES & MARES OPEN. (1) CENTURY JAMILA has worked her way up the class ladder quickly and produced an upset win in last week’s Open. Her versatility makes her dangerous again. Hard to look past the horse that just won in the top class. (2) ANGOSTURA HANOVER produced her best effort at the Open level that I can remember. Her strong late kick should make her a threat again. (7) GLENBORO dropped and popped last week after a subpar effort two starts ago. I wasn’t at the wedding, so I won’t come to the funeral. Race 10: NW $2,500 LAST 4 STARTS OR NW $6,000 LAST 8 STARTS. (W/O $10,000 LAST 8 STARTS N/E). AE: OPT. CLM. $20,000. (6) BUCK DANCER grinded out a decent finish after being off for nearly a month. He will provide a square number tonight, and gets back on a regular rotation. (3) MUSCLE FASHION had a major chance to repeat last week, but was one of many weather scratches on last Friday’s card. I’m counting on him being ready to go. (1) MISTER MAGIC was better last week and got back on track after a subpar effort two starts ago at the higher level. Look for him to be forward as well.
