Woodbine Mohawk Park: 2YO pacers compete in Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series

The 2-year-old Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) season is officially underway, and in the first leg of the Gold Series, the two C$100,000 divisions for pacing colts and geldings were won by Gogo Gadget and TH Benedict.
In the first split 1-2 favorite Gogo Gadget (Jonathan Drury) set a 1:52 2/5 lifetime mark while defeating Bulldog Xpress (James MacDonald) by 2 1/2 lengths.
Wheels Up (Mark MacDonald) led the field through the opening two fractions of 27 1/5 and 55 3/5 before making a break just as Gogo Gadget took command and hit the three-quarter pole in 1:23 2/5. Gogo Gadget then came home in 29 seconds to seal the victory.
Calmbeforestorm (J.R. Plante), Th Theo (Doug McNair) and Dagger One (Louis-Philippe Roy) grabbed the final checks, respectively.
The son of Betting Line out of JK Getupngo is now perfect through two lifetime starts and has earnings of C$60,000 for owner Tamara Vandewiel of Arthur, ON, and breeder Jessica Kulcher, Guelph, ON. Gogo Gadget, trained by Kyle Bossence, won his career pari-mutuel debut impressively in 1:52 3/5 in an overnight on June 26 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Gogo Gadget paid $3.10.
The second section saw second choice TH Benedict (James MacDonald) make his pari-mutuel debut a golden one, swooping wide in the lane and closing from fourth to win in 1:52 2/5 by three-quarters of a length over Stampede (Jody Jamieson). The Swooper (McNair), Meetmeonthebeach (Roy) and Kerplunk (Trevor Henry) grabbed the other checks.
TH Benedict, a son of Cattlewash out of Pasta Blue Chip, is trained by Tony O'Sullivan for owners Clay Horner of Toronto, Pryde Stables Inc. of North York, ON and James Walker of Port Perry, ON. The pacer, a $145,000 yearling purchase at the 2025 Standardbred Horse Sales Company auction in Harrisburg, PA, was bred by Tara Hills Stud of Port Perry and Glenn Bechtel of Kingston, ON. Sent off at 9-5, TH Benedict paid $5.80.

Twin B Mayreau, Money Carlo both golden in pari-mutuel debuts
Twin B Mayreau and Money Carlo were the winners of the two C$100,000 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Leg 1 Gold Series divisions for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Friday (July 3) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
In the opening flight, Tyler Jones drove 19-1 Twin B Mayreau (Cattlewash—Olivia Mcskywalker) to an impressive 1:50 3/5 victory in her pari-mutuel debut.
It was single-file racing through the first three-quarters as Aceandaten (Doug McNair) led Twin B Mayreau through fractions of 27 3/5, 55 4/5 and 1:23 1/5. In mid-stretch, Jones pulled the pocket and edged past a game Aceandaten to win by three-quarters of a length.
Race favorite Twin B Girl Talk (James MacDonald) was third, followed by Lyons Flurry (Louis-Philippe Roy) and Charolais Cattle (Bob McClure) in the field of seven.
Twin B Mayreau, who already has C$50,000 on her card, is a Francis Dumouchel trainee owned by Ecurie Csl of Sorel-Tracy, QC and bred by Jenna McNiven of Embro, ON. The pacing filly was sold for C$47,000 at the 2025 London Classic Yearling Sale. Twin B Mayreau paid $40.
1-2 favorite Money Carlo (Bob McClure) was also victorious in her pari-mutuel debut in the second Gold Series tilt. She defeated the field of six in 1:51 3/5.
After sitting third through the 27 2/5 opening quarter, McClure had Money Carlo out and on top by the 56 second half. Money Carlo also led the field through the 1:24 2/5 three-quarters. In the stretch, Money Carlo put away a game challenge by Qued Up (McNair) and powered on to win by neck over a late charge from Waves Of Fortune (James MacDonald). Twin B Copacabana (Mark MacDonald) was third, followed by Qued Up and Watchmeparty (Trevor Henry).
Money Carlo, a daughter of Bulldog Hanover out of Shes Some Treasure, was bred by Steve Jones for owner Brad Grant, who purchased the filly for $175,000 U.S. at the 2025 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. Money Carlo paid $3.10 and now has C$50,000 in her bank account.
