The Grade 3, $1 million Southwest carries points for the Kentucky Derby. It will be run Jan. 31 and entries will be taken on Sunday. Strategic Risk worked five furlongs on a track rated good in 1:02.40. Silent Tactic, who ran second in the Smarty Jones, also worked Wednesday at Oaklawn. He went five furlongs in 1:01.60 and also remains on deck for the Southwest, said Casse. Casse’s candidates for the $300,000 Martha Washington on the same card were also on the work tab Wednesday.
