Precise Timing will take on five others in the WTBOA Lassies Stakes going 6 1/2 furlongs on Saturday at Emerald Downs. Owned by Blue Ribbon Racing .23, Precise Timing, who debuted in and won the Angie C Stakes on July 6, has drawn the inside post as she attempts to further establish her leadership of the local 2-year-old filly division. Trained by Kay Cooper, the daughter of Dialed In has dazzled in the mornings, particularly with a two-furlong breeze on June 17, which was among the fastest ever recorded at the track and distance. “Precise Timing is going into this race quite well. Her maintenance work was exactly what [jockey] Kevin Orozco and I talked about.” Cooper said, the latter in reference to a five-furlong breeze in 1:01.40 on July 26. “She’s very professional in everything that she does. Right now she loves her job and is going into the race at 110 percent.” Returning to face the likely favorite will be Coconut Dreams, who finished a strong second in the Angie C after pressuring the winner for much of the way. Trained by David Martinez, Coconut Dreams had the benefit of a prior race when coming into her first stakes try. The daughter of The Factor drew the outside post for Saturday’s contest and will again be ridden by Javier Matias. :: Bet the races with a $200 First Deposit Match + FREE All Access PPs! Sapello La Fina was an eye-catching winner on debut, winning by 4 1/4 lengths in a July 14 maiden, and now makes her stakes debut Saturday. The Miguel Hernandez trainee figures to improve off of her maiden voyage and could make things interesting, particularly as she has drawn right outside of Precise Timing. Allyssa Morales will again have the call aboard the daughter of Girvin. Others entered in the field include Summer Reign, a Tom Wenzel trainee who broke slowly when debuting in the same race won by Sapello La Fina. The daughter of Gift Box, owned by George Todaro, checked in fourth, beaten 8 1/4 lengths, in that contest and will be ridden Saturday by Leslie Mawing. A Thousand Miles was a June 22 maiden winner in her second start and will meet stakes competition after seven weeks off for trainer Justin Evans. A daughter of Thousand Words, she debuted against males back on June 9 in a race that has produced two other next-out winners. Kevin Krigger has been named aboard A Thousand Miles. Saturday’s eight-race card is set to begin at 1:30 p.m. Pacific with temperatures in the 80s. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
