Precise Timing looks to maintain her unblemished record in the $50,000 Washington Cup Juvenile Fillies over 6 1/2 furlongs on Sunday at Emerald Downs. The daughter of Dialed In will face just four statebred foes as she looks to make it 3 for 3 in stakes company. Trained by Kay Cooper, Precise Timing drew the inside post. The filly boasts prior success from the rail at Sunday’s distance. In her most recent race, the WTBOA Lassies, Precise Timing employed her natural speed from post 1 to dart clear immediately before soon being surrounded, and even headed from the outside. Her advantage was measured for most of the way and in the end Precise Timing prevailed at Sunday’s trip by three-quarters of a length. Set to face the Blue Ribbon Racing .23 color-bearer are a trio of maidens and another Cooper trainee named Beauty Bark. A daughter of former Longacres Mile winner Barkley, Beauty Bark was a romping debut winner Aug. 10. She doesn’t appear to have Precise Timing’s turn of foot, but Beauty Bark drew the outside post and should be poised just off the pace. Other Washington-bred fillies entered are Dynamic Dee Dee, trained by Frank Lucarelli; Lani’s Sweetheart, trained by David Martinez; and Dynamic Fire, trained by Tena Birdwell. The trio faced off in an Aug. 9 maiden-claiming event, finishing third, fourth, and seventh, respectively. :: Get the Inside Track with the FREE DRF Morning Line Email Newsletter. Owner Margaret Root holds a strong hand with her stakes-winning tandem of Big Bowie and Vivacious Tribute. Big Bowie is trained by Lucarelli while Vivacious Tribute is in the barn of Blaine Wright. Set to face the expected favorites are a half-dozen maidens headed by Impassable. A Howard Belvoir trainee, Impassable was runner-up in the recent WTBOA Lads when he finished in front of both Big Bowie and Vivacious Tribute. Despite sluggish starts in each of his races, Impassable has given a solid account of himself in stakes company both times. Another noteworthy maiden is He’s Not Talking, who is trained by Bonnie Jenne. A gelded son of Brody’s Cause, He’s Not Talking debuted in the King County Express Stakes in which he began poorly and checked in sixth, beaten 4 1/4 lengths by Vivacious Tribute. “He gained a lot of experience from that first race, in which he didn’t break well,” said Jenne, who was “very pleased with his last out,” when second by a head in maiden company Aug. 11. “I expect to see a great effort on Sunday,” Jenne said. Others entered in the colts and geldings division are Tiz Grazen, trained by Blaine Wright; Da Smoke, trained by Anne Wisdom; Verdi, trained by Tom Wenzel; and Fortyshadesoftiger, also trained by Lucarelli. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
