In Our Time takes field wire to wire in Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint

In Our Time sprinted to the lead and dominated the Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint, winning the Grade 1, $1.676 million contest by 3 1/2 lengths.
Time to Dazzle stalked the pace and finished second, a nose ahead of third-place Jody’s Pride, who rallied from the rear of the field and bested fourth-place Sayidah Dariyan, an English invader, by a length and a half.
Florent Geroux, riding the mare for the first time, allowed Ag Bullet to settle in second, but the 11-10 favorite, seeking her third consecutive win in this race, had nothing for the stretch run, fading to finish eighth of 10.
In Our Time ran twice in the course of 11 days last season at Kentucky Downs, finishing third going one mile in the Ladies Turf, then winning an allowance race at 6 1/2 furlongs, same distance as the Ladies Sprint.
But Saturday’s was a performance of a different magnitude, In Our Time taking no prisoners after going clear before the sweeping far turn. Setting splits of 22.79 and 45.39, In Our Time kicked clear with a quarter-mile remaining, and no one got close to her. She was timed in 1:16.01 over a firm course and paid $12.70 as the third choice.
Micah Husbands rode In Our Time for Resolute Racing and Miller Racing, and Saffie Joseph trains the 5-year-old mare. In Our Time, a daughter of Not This Time and Laura’s Pleasure, by Cactus Ridge, was bred in Kentucky by Brian Kahn. She picked up a first-place check of a little more than a million bucks – easy money on the lead.
