The New York Racing Association announced that it will not race at Aqueduct this Sunday due to a forecast that calls for significant snow and cold temperatures. It will instead offer racing on Jan. 28, pending expected approval from the New York State Gaming Commission. Early forecasts for Sunday have anywhere from eight to 12 inches of snow possible, along with bitter cold temperatures. The same races that were in the condition book for Sunday will be used for the Jan. 28 card. Entries for Sunday would have been taken Wednesday. Instead, entries for the Jan. 28 card were to be taken Thursday. Saturday’s card could also be in jeopardy, as the forecast calls for temperatures in the teens, with wind chills in the single digits. A decision on that card likely won’t be made until Friday or Saturday morning. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering? Check out DRF's Handicapping 101 and Wagering 101 pages.
