HOT SPRINGS, Ark – Majestic Oops on Friday can become the second Breeders’ Cup Distaff starter to win their seasonal debut at Oaklawn Park in less than a week when she runs in the $150,000 American Beauty. The six-furlong race for fillies and mares is part of a 10-race card that opens a race week that includes a special holiday card on Monday. Nitrogen, second in last year’s BC Distaff on Nov. 1 at Del Mar and the champion 3-year-old filly of 2025, launched her 4-year-old season last Saturday at Oaklawn with a win in the Grade 3 Bayakoa. She earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 97. Majestic Oops, now 6, finished ninth in the BC Distaff. She’s part of an American Beauty field of six that includes multiple stakes winners Asternia and Benedetta. Majestic Oops is a two-time stakes winner for the partnership of Medallion Racing, Evan Trommer, Agave Racing Stable, and Sheila Regan. “We gave her a break after the Breeders’ Cup and they decided to run her as a 6-year-old, which I’m very happy with,” trainer Dan Ward said. “We’ve had her here at Oaklawn. She loves the track and she’s run well at six furlongs, so I think it’s a good starting point and we’ll go from here.” :: Live racing action at Oaklawn Park! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now. Majestic Oops will be turning back from the 1 1/8-mile distance of the BC Distaff. “The last time she ran one turn she was third in a Grade 1,” Ward said of the seven-furlong Ballerina Stakes in August at Saratoga. Majestic Oops will break from post 5 under jockey Francisco Arrieta. She could get a stalking trip behind a few of her rivals. “I think that she’s a different horse in the cold weather,” Ward said. “She’s very fresh and full of energy and everything. Last year during the summer she didn’t, to me, train as well in the real hot, humid weather. But she’s really on her toes here and I don’t think she’ll get too far out of it. She’s very fresh.” Majestic Oops has won races at distances from 5 1/2 furlongs to 1 1/16 miles. She’s also won over several different tracks. Last season, Majestic Oops won the Dig A Diamond going a mile Oaklawn. From there, she won the Lady’s Secret at 1 1/16 miles at Monmouth Park, was second in that track’s Grade 3 Molly Pitcher, and finished third in the Ballerina. The American Beauty could help determine whether she will target one- or two-turn races in 2026. “We’ll see what happens,” Ward said. “We know that she likes the mile. We know that she likes the mile and a sixteenth. I’m still not too sure about a mile and an eighth. But if she runs really good [Friday], we’ll keep sprinting. I know she’s really good at one turn, maybe a one-turn mile. We’ll see. We’re looking forward to getting her started.” Tapit Quick picks up a bit more distance on the move to six furlongs. Two of her three wins have come at the distance. Cristian Torres has the mount from the rail for trainer Dallas Stewart. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
