Los Alamitos will not race on the weekend of Feb. 7-8 and will be closed for training from Feb. 5-9 to conduct track maintenance, according to a statement issued on Friday. The track has conducted similar maintenance programs in early February in past years, most recently in 2023 when no racing was conducted on the second weekend of February. Los Alamitos does not race on Super Bowl Sunday, which this year is Feb. 8. In the statement, the track described the forthcoming renovation as “a comprehensive refresh of the one-mile dirt oval.” Los Alamitos runs a year-round evening meeting for Quarter Horses and lower-level Thoroughbreds. The track runs three brief daytime Thoroughbred meetings in late June and early July, and in September and December. Racing will resume on Feb. 14 with a program that includes the Los Alamitos Winter Derby for Quarter Horses at 400 yards. During the renovation period, Los Alamitos will be open for daytime simulcasting. :: Access the most trusted data and information in horse racing! DRF Past Performances and Picks are available now.
