Jockey Paco Lopez was suspended 60 days by the Gulfstream Park stewards earlier this month for a second case of extreme careless riding this season, and on Thursday track officials said that suspension has been reduced to 30 racing days on appeal. Lopez also will donate $10,000 to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund and volunteer at the nearby Jackson Memorial Hospital. Lopez will ride at Gulfstream Park on Thursday and Friday and begin his suspension on Saturday, according to his agent, Corey Moran. As a result, Lopez will have to relinquish his call aboard Too Charming in Saturday’s $75,000 Powder Break Stakes. Moran said Lopez will be able to resume riding on June 15, and that he plans to be back at Monmouth Park then.
