Little Teddy back to winning ways with repeat score in Zadracarta

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Heavily favored Little Teddy rebounded from a subpar performance to win the $150,000 Zadracarta Stakes for the second year in a row on Saturday at Woodbine.
Little Teddy ($2.70) broke a length behind the others in the five-furlong inner turf dash before making her way towards the rail in a stalking position under Austin Adams.
Dolce Fortuna made the lead through rapid fractions before drifting out into the three path entering the stretch. Little Teddy darted up the rail to hit the front early in the lane and then outlasted Dolce Fortuna in the final sixteenth to score by a length. Her final time of 56.08 seconds over the firm ground was just .68 off the course record.
Sinclairity, who was wound up pre-race, rallied for third and Olivia Rose faded from second to fourth. Foresters Exec checked in fifth in the seven-horse field of Ontario-bred fillies and mares.
Little Teddy had valid excuses when a sagging fifth in her previous race on the Tapeta in the Ballade Stakes. Adams said her tardy start this time wasn’t a disaster.
“She just came out a little to the side,” Adams said. “Olivia Rose really didn’t break that great either. I had to go plan B. I was expecting [Olivia Rose] to be up front and ‘Dolce’ ended up being closer to the pace.
“I just let her find her legs and get in her rhythm. She always runs better like that. She’s a different horse on this turf. I do really feel it. She’s got a different kind of kick out here.”
Trained by Santino DiPaola, Little Teddy earned $90,000 for York Tech Racing Stable. The daughter of Frac Daddy was voted the 2025 Sovereign Award for champion female sprinter in Canada.
