The $100,000 Honey Ryder for 3-year old fillies and $100,000 English Channel for sophomore colts and geldings share top billing on Saturday at Gulfstream Park. Both races will be contested at one mile over turf. The 11-race card begins at 1:10 p.m. Eastern and concludes with the English Channel at 6:05 p.m. The Honey Ryder, which drew 12 horses, goes as the fifth race. Karaya could be a handful if she is able to carry her speed around two turns while trying turf for just the second time. The Florida-bred daughter of Bucchero debuted on grass here with a solid effort, finishing third in a maiden special weight sprint Dec. 8. The winner, Imaboutago, romped in her next start at Fair Grounds in a first-level allowance race that carried a $100,000 claiming option. Karaya switched surfaces and won her next three races on Tapeta before being the runner-up to Twirling Queen in the five-furlong Melody of Colors on March 24. A half-sister to Grade 3 route winner Two Sixty, Karaya suggested she can handle a mile when she finished with conviction in the Melody of Colors. She breaks from post 4 with Miguel Vasquez up. With plenty of other potential speed in the field, the race could set up nicely for Lady Cha Cha who rallied from last to win a $50,000 starter race at the Honey Ryder distance on April 18. It was her first start after being claimed by Laura Cazares, and nobody should be surprised if she takes another step forward Saturday. :: Subscribe to the DRF Post Time Email Newsletter: Get the news you need to play today's races!  Vasquez was aboard for the victory. Jose Morelos will be up when she breaks from post 3 on Saturday. The Antonio Sano-trained De Regreso is coming off a game win in a first-level allowance race with a $75,000 claiming option April 6 and could be dangerous from a stalking position. There is no shortage of contenders in the English Channel, which drew a field of 11. Please Advise makes his first start since winning the $120,000 Atlantic Beach on Nov. 4 at Aqueduct. Trained by George Weaver, Please Advise came from well back in the six-furlong turf dash. In his only route attempt, the Kentucky-bred son of Palace Malice was second in a nonwinners-of-two allowance race at Kentucky Downs. The layoff is a concern. However, the past five years Weaver has a solid 22 percent strike rate with horses coming off a break of 180 days or more. Please Advise will break from post 2 with Joe Bravo up. Salvatore Prince, trained by Jose D’Angelo, was trying turf for the first time when he finished third in the $125,000 Cutler Bay on March 30. It’s hard to imagine that the Kentucky-bred colt by Street Sense won’t improve with that experience behind him. Prevent took them all the way in his nose victory over Ninja Star in a first-level allowance race going a mile on turf April 12. He could be the one they have to run down if he breaks alertly from the inside post with Edgard Zayas in the saddle. A stakes winner on Tapeta, Freedom Principle could make a big impact if he runs back to his fourth-place finish on turf in the Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy two back for trainer Jose Garoffalo. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
