Several unraced 3-year-old fillies with strong pedigrees from high-profile barns are scheduled to make their debuts Friday at Gulfstream Park in a one-mile maiden heat that looks to be the most interesting event on the 10-race card. Todd Pletcher has two of the nine entered, led by Elgheed, a $1.2 million yearling purchase by Shadwell Stable at Keeneland in September 2024. Elgheed is by Into Mischief out of the dam Immediate Impact, herself a half-sister to Arrogate, the 2016 champion 3-year-old. Elgheed showed two workouts at Pletcher’s winter base of Palm Beach Downs in March 2025 before going to the sidelines. She started working again in December and shows seven works for her debut. John Velazquez rides from the outside post in this nine-horse field. "She's a tall, leggy filly, seems like a mile is a suitable distance to start her out," Pletcher said. "I don't know that she's the type to put it all together first time out. Hopefully, she'll continue to improve and I think she'll want two turns." Pletcher also has She Be Smooth, a Calumet Farm homebred daughter of Lexitonian out of the Grade 1-winning dam Seattle Smooth. She Be Smooth didn’t get to the work tab until last November and shows nine works for her debut. Irad Ortiz Jr. is named to ride She Be Smooth from post 2. :: Play Gulfstream Park with confidence! DRF Past Performances, Picks, and Clocker Reports are available now.  "She's trained fairly consistently. She seems like the further she goes the better she gets," Pletcher said. "I didn’t necessarily plan to start them together, but felt like the mile was the right distance for both of them." Prom Queen, a daughter of Quality Road owned and bred by Gary and Mary West and trained by Brad Cox, is a half-sister to Money Game, a colt who won both of his starts going 1 1/16 miles around two turns. “She’s a two-turn filly. This is a good spot to get her started,” said Cox, who added that Money Game has recently returned to training. Another filly with a strong pedigree is Slow Kara, who is the third foal from the mare Terra Promessa, a four-time Grade 3 winner and earner of $920,000. One of her previous foals, Vivaciously, went 1 for 6. Micah Husbands rides the Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained filly from the rail. Sister Slew, trained by Patrick Biancone, and Quiddity, trained by Barclay Tagg, look to be the best of the ones to have run. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
