The New York Racing Association announced that the Saturday card at Aqueduct, which included the $135,000 Interborough Stakes, will be canceled due to “arctic temperatures and sub-zero wind chill values,” per a press release. The Interborough will be brought back on Friday, Feb. 6. New entries for the race will be taken on Saturday, Jan. 31. NYRA is still considering options for bringing back other races on the nine-race card at some point later in the meet. The Sunday card at the track was also canceled earlier this week, as the NYRA took preemptive measures to reschedule the race date with the expectation of heavy snowfall. That card will be run on Wednesday next week. Though racing is canceled on Saturday, the track will remain open for simulcasting. The facility will be closed to the public on Sunday. On Friday morning, New York Governor Kathy Hochul declared a state of emergency in response to the impending winter storm, with up to 12 inches of snow expected in some parts of the New York City area on Sunday. :: Want to learn more about handicapping and wagering?
