Worldventurer entered in April's Fasig-Tipton Texas sale

Worldventurer, a three-time stakes-winning 3-year-old, is among a handful of horses of racing age to be offered at auction during the Fasig-Tipton Texas annual sale of 2-year-olds in training in a new format twist, said Sales Director Tim Boyce. The auction is April 3 at Lone Star Park near Dallas.

Worldventurer and the other horses of racing age will be sold after the 2-year-old portion of the sale, Boyce said. There are 134 horses cataloged for the auction. Worldventurer, by Wimbledon, has earned $207,932.

Boyce noted that the horse was third behind leading Louisiana Derby candidate Departing in the Texas Heritage at Sam Houston in his last start March 2. He added that last winter, Worldventurer ran third behind Texas Bling and eventual Rebel Stakes winner Will Take Charge in the $300,000 Springboard Mile at Remington.

“This horse will be a pretty good draw,” Boyce said.

Worldventurer is scheduled to be at Lone Star by March 27, Boyce said. He will be stabled with trainer Bret Calhoun, but after the sale’s April 1 under-tack show, he will be part of the Twin Oaks Training Center consignment. Twin Oaks is acting as agent for owner Wesley Melcher.

Worldventurer was the champion Texas-bred 2-year-old of 2012.
